Feminism in Hollyoaks

In lesson, we were asked to apply are learning of feminism to Hollyoaks, i based my work around the character of Nancy Hayton played by Jessica Fox. Fox describes her character saying "Nancy has "always got some kind of bitchy comeback for everyone". She explained that Nancy "says that you don’t have to be the skinny blonde or the skinny brunette, you can be the one who does whatever the hell she likes". Fox has described Nancy as "a bit of a moral compass for the show. She knows what's right and she's often the voice of that." This tells us that Nancy's character is strong and independent.

Ideology

Our school motto is "Respect, Believe, Achieve" This motto gives off a feeling of self belief towards people. Its telling us if we choose to do the right things and put the work in, we will get something great out of it.

I think ideology is very important to a music magazine, as its what influences the buyer in the first place. If we like the look of something, it influences our choice whether to buy it or not. If we see a band we like on the front cover of a music magazine, we instantly want it, the band are always presented in a cool fashion if they are a male band, and in a sensual way if they are a girl band.

The first image is a shot from the front of the school showing and the sky takes up a lot of the background and sets the scene for this picture, the fact the sky is blue creates a sense of calmness to the picture and makes you think that the school looks like a very nice place.

The second image is a shot of the sixth form building and the sky takes up a lot of the background in this photo too. The sky is really dark and grey making the school look gloomy and scary, we instantly think in our minds that the school isn't a very nice place to be.

Photoshop Editing

I used photoshop to show how easy it is to edit pictures and add simple things in that people would not notice, here i've just used a simple example of placing a persons face over another persons face. I cropped a childs face onto Liam Gallagher's face.
